Successful families recognize the importance of communication and keeping the family connected. Family governance research shows that 60% of generational wealth transfer failures are caused (not by taxes, bad investments or spendthrifts but) by the breakdown of communication and trust within the family across generations. (Williams & Preisser, 2003). Cabotwellington.com (the “Family Website”) is an on-line portal administered by Cabot-Wellington, LLC that allows family members to access and share information relevant to the Cabot family and their family-wide entities. In it you will find (among other interesting things) a family directory where you can update and share your personal profile and in addition you will be able to display family photos and stories; research family and entity history; access geographical maps of interest; determine who is a current trustee, board member or manager of a family entity; locate reports, presentations, policies and other documents related to the family or its entities; search family entity calendars for meetings and events; get updates on family news and happenings; and link to the CW quarterly newsletter.
